Glass Sculptures
Each freehand sculpture, made by Jim, begins with a gather of molten glass on the end of a metal blowpipe from a 2100-degree furnace. By alternately shaping and gathering more glass, the piece eventually takes a spherical shape. The use of centrifugal force during the final stages of creation of the piece plays a key role in the ultimate shape of the sculpture.
These freeform pieces are part of a series that emphasize use of color over symmetry of form. Each piece is signed by the artist.
